• SGHT holds its first UK event at Discovery Point, Dundee, comprising a performance of a one-man play about Antarctic explorer Tom Crean by actor Aidan Dooley, a reception, and dinner in the Wardroom of RRS Discovery.
• SGHT, in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco foundation, supports a study investigating potential biological hotspots in the South Georgia marine environment through studies of seabird movement.
• SGHT helps fund an investigation by historian Robert Burton to attempt to trace a meridian transit beacon erected during the Endurance expedition in 1914.
• SGHT supports a British Schools Exploring Society (BSES) expedition to South Georgia, with the aim of helping young people develop skills and resilience through the challenge of living and working in remote and testing areas of the world.
