Thanks to incredible support from people around the world, the Key Table – Part One of the Whale Memorial for South Georgia – has been created and installed at Grytviken. Now, the Spirit Tables remain to be made: the powerful final elements which will celebrate the recent recovery of six of South Georgia’s great whale species, hunted to near-extinction during the whaling era.

The Whale Memorial consists of seven tables - six ‘Spirit Tables’ which are covered in mesmerising patterns of stainless steel rivets, celebrating the return of the great whales to South Georgia’s waters; and the Key Table, which uses original rivets from the whaling era to represent and commemorate the whales slaughtered for profit.
